Double Header at Riverside

Nick Albright

The Purcell Baseball team took a long bus ride to Riverside last Friday the 23rd. They had scheduled a double header against Riverside and one of the top ranked teams in the district, Newcastle. In the first game against Riverside, Nick Albright started off on the mound and struggled at first but eventually found his rhythm as the game progressed. The team struggled hitting but towards the fourth inning they started getting base hits left and right and that led to Purcell run ruling Riverside 11-1. The team had a short break in between games before they played against the best team they’ve seen all year. Brodrick Smith pitched against the Racers and the Dragons backed him up with good defense. Purcell had a lot of success swinging the sticks whether it was base hits or a Newcastle error. The Racers got run ruled 11-0 and Purcell was off to prepare to play the number one team in the district, Marlow, on Monday the 25th.
